This is to my mind the perfect album if you take it for what it is - an album of ballads and stories in the age old tradition of a travelling minstrel. All aspects of a life lived are touched on including loss, discovery, commitment, unadulterated joy and friendship. Every track is well crafted, sung and produced with dramatic moments both vocally and in the playing.I admit that in this day and age collectively it probably sounds a little cheesy, but we live in a colder more cynical world now. Back in 1977 it was also pretty grim, but we could still count hope as an ambition for us and our fellow travellers.
